Nigeria legend Mutiu Adepoju has told busybuddiesng.com he thinks the Super Eagles can win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt, adding that it would represent success for him.
The Super Eagles battle South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in Wednesday’s quarter-final in Cairo for a place in the last 4 of the competition, as they continue their quest for a fourth continental title.
Asked what would represent success in Egypt, the 1994 AFCON winner said: “Success would be winning it, Nigeria is always a potential winner of the AFCON. And we should just take it that way. Success will be getting to the final and winning it.
Adepoju, who represented Nigeria at three World Cups, admitted that winning the title won’t come on a platter for the Super Eagles.
“Yeah, it might not be possible because of other countries too. But I believe if they play very well, it is possible,” the former Real Sociedad midfielder said.
