INSIDE AFCON 2019: Musa, Ighalo Return to Full Training with the Super Eagles After Fitness Scare

CAIRO – Ahmed Musa and Odion Ighalo appear to have recovered fully from niggles picked up against South Africa on Wednesday as the duo took full part in today’s training for the first time in two days.

Both players had concentrated mostly on recovery routines and have sat out the more rigorous sessions in the last two days but were fully involved today as the team held their final training session at the Aero Sports Club ahead of Sunday’s all-important semifinal encounter against Algeria.

While there are no new injury complaints for Gernot Rohr to worry about, full back Shehu Abdullahi still seems on the road to full fitness as he engaged in aerobic training while the rest of the squad performed drills with the ball.

Three-time AFCON champions, Nigeria beat South Africa 2-1 to progress to the semifinals on their return to the tournament since winning the title in 2013 while Algeria ousted 2015 AFCON champions Ivory Coast 4-3 via penalties to make the last four for the first time since 2010.

Both teams face off by 8pm at the Cairo International Stadium with a place in the final of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations at stake.
