IHF Trophy: Ocheho Hails Nigeria’s U18 Female Cadets On African Zone 3 Triumph

The President of the Handball Federation of Nigeria Mr. Sam Ocheho has congratulated the National U18 Female Cadet Team for making Nigeria proud at the recently concluded IHF Challenge Trophy in Niamey, Niger Republic.

The Cadets team were victorious in all their games at the International Handball Federation sanctioned tournament and emerged African Zone 3 Champions after defeating hosts Niger Republic 30-16 in the final.

The Abdukadir Yusuf coached team have therefore earned qualification to the continental championship in Rwanda later in the year and HFN president, Ocheho praised the dedication and hard work exhibited by the team during the competition.

The National U20 Female Handball Team, couldn’t match their Cadet counterparts however as they failed to secure qualification to the continental championship after they fell short in their final game losing 38-24 to Benin Republic.

Despite that setback, Ocheho congratulated the team for getting silver in Niamey.

“They deserve all commendations for the good performance they had at the competition which earned them silver. I know they will do better next time,” Ocheho said.

The Secretary General of the HFN, Maigidansanma Mohammed reiterated the Federation’s resolve to continuing support the Coach Uzor Obi tutored Cadets and expressed a firm belief that the team will only get better with time.
