Ighalo Snubbed Once Again As Man Utd Lose To Arsenal

Odion Ighalo Shocked

Odion Ighalo was left out of Manchester United’s matchday squad for successive Premier League games as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s second-half penalty gave Arsenal their first away win over Manchester United in 14 years.

Ighalo failed to make the Reds’ team against Chelsea last time out and the Nigerian whose loan expires in January was unlisted once again for Arsenal’s visit.

With the recent acquisition of Edinson Cavani and with Anthony Martial available once again after serving out his three-match suspension for a red card in the loss to Tottenham, it is conceivable Ighalo might not play in the Premier League again before returning to his Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.

Aubameyang’s goal ended a five-game barren spell as he sent David de Gea the wrong way on 69 minutes after Paul Pogba had fouled Hector Bellerin.

United, lacklustre for much of the encounter, tried to rally but save a fortuitous chance when Donny van de Beek’s cross flicked off Mohamed Elneny and then into the face of goalkeeper Bernd Leno hitting a post, the Reds failed to create anything of note.

The Gunners now have 12 points and are up to eighth and United who have now failed to win any of their four home league games this season, remain in 15th on seven points.
