Ideye Urges Ighalo To Snub ‘Chinese Money’ For Man Utd (AUDIO)

Nigeria international Brown Ideye believes former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo will reject the mouth-watering contract extension from his Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua in favour of remaining at Manchester United.

Ighalo, 30, completed a shock loan move from Shenhua to boyhood club United on deadline day in the January transfer window.

The former Watford forward has scored 4 goals in 8 matches for the Red Devils before the coronavirus pandemic halted football in the Premier League last month.

With Shanghai Shenhua tabling a reported £400,000 (N193 million) per week salary for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer to return to China, Ideye thinks money might not be the most important factor for the former Granada and Udinese striker at this point in his career.

“For me, I think (Odion) Ighalo should stay (with Manchester United),” Ideye, who previously played for WestBrom in the Premier League said. “I think he is happy in England. I think he’s going to stay.

“Sometimes, it gets to a point in a football career when you don’t look at the money anymore. So, I think Ighalo will stay.”

Ighalo’s six-month loan deal at Manchester United is expected to run till the end of June, but with uncertainty about the end of the current season due to the coronavirus pandemic, it remains to be seen if his time at the Red Devils will be extended.

The former Super Eagles goal poacher is reportedly ready to accept a pay-cut to remain at his childhood club, United.
