IAAF World C’Ships: Ese Brume Wins Bronze For Nigeria In Long Jump

Ese Brume, Nigeria’s long jump queen, has become the first athlete since 2013 to win a medal at the World Athletics Championships for Nigeria with a leap of 6.91m in the final of the women’s long jump to win bronze.

The African champion finished behind German Malaika Mihambo and Ukraine’s Maryna Romanchuk to take bronze six years after Blessing Okagbare secured a podium place for Nigeria in the same discipline.

Brume’s medal winning performance on the last day of the Doha Championships put a shine on what has been an otherwise disappointing outing for the country athletes.

Nigeria could yet end the meet with another medal after African and Commonwealth champion Tobi Amusan qualified for the women’s 100m hurdles final.
