IAAF Diamond League: Okagbare Stumbles To Fourth In Oslo

Nigerian sprinter Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor failed to live up to expectations at the Oslo leg of the IAAF Diamond League series on Thursday evening after she stumbled to fourth position in the 100m with a time of 11.12 seconds.

Cote D’Ivoire’s Murielle Ahoure ran 10.91 seconds to win the race at the Bislett Games in Oslo, which represents the fourth leg of the 14-leg IAAF Diamond League series.

Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith and reigning Commonwealth Games champion, Michelle Lee Ahyle, finished the race in second and third position respectively with the former setting a new personal best British record of 10.92 seconds while the latter returned with a time of 11.06 seconds.

Fourth place earned Okagbare a reward of $3,000 and five points thus bringing her total haul in three races to 14 points and in third place behind Ahoure (20 points) and Marie-Josee Ta Lou (16 points) who won in Doha and Eugene to make it a clean sweep for the Ivorians from the three races decided so far.
