I Was Better Than Messi Or Ronaldo – Brazilian World Cup Star

Former Brazilian striker Romario has said that he is better than both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the art of goalscoring.

Romario, 51, who was the star of the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the US, admitted both players are the best in the world but then pointed out that he was a better goalscorer than either of them.

He made this known in a chat with popular media outlet Globoesporte. Romario said:

“In scoring goals, I was better than both Messi and Romario. More than twice as good.”

“It’s true, though, they have different characteristics to the ones I had.

“Today, along with Neymar, they are the best in the world. They have achieved many titles, but leaving modesty aside, I can say that even though they have won many Ballons d’Or, in that area I’m still better.”

On whether they could achieve his career tally of 1003 goals, he said:

“They’re both over 30, so it will be very difficult.”

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have ruled the world of football for the better part of the last decade winning the last nine World Player of the Year awards in the process.
