The Umuahia team had lost all nine matches prior to Friday’s thrilling 34-25 victory over fellow strugglers Owena Queens 34-25 in the women’s category.
In other matches decided in the women’s side of the draw, Imo Grasshoppers defeated Plateau Peacocks 24-2, while league leaders, Safety Babes dispatched Edo Dynamos 29-24.
De Defenders saw off Bornu Spiders 30-24 in the men’s category while Owena Kings came out tops against Sokoto Rima 33-29 to score a maiden victory at the tournament.
Lagos Seasiders, defeated Army Boys, COAS Shooters 45-32 in a high scoring game while league leaders Kano Pillars, made up for their loss on Matchday 10 with a 29-22 victory over Kada Stars.
