Handball: IHF Appoints Traveller’s Coach For Nigeria

Handball Federation of Nigeria president Mr. Samuel Ocheho has commended the decision of the International Handball Federation (IHF) to appoint Mr. Yerime Sylla as traveller’s coach for Nigeria.

Handball’s world-governing body nominated Mr. Sylla as part of its traveller’s coaching project aimed at promoting the sport in Nigeria and assisting the senior men’s national handball team in preparing for next year’s Africa Men Senior Handball Nations Cup in Tunisia.

Mr. Sylla is also expected to hold a seminar for Nigerian coaches as part of his duties.

Ocheho believes the development fulfils a major promise made by the HFN at the inception of their tenure and says the input of the world-renowned tactician will serve to improve the technical proficiency of both players and coaches.

Fifty-year-old Yerime Sylla, a Franco-Senegalese was born on April 28, 1969, in Villemomble and represented Senegal internationally.

He has had coaching stints with the Kuwaiti and Belgian national handball teams as well as a number of handball clubs in France.

The IHF instructor is expected to be in Nigeria for the first phase of the coaching project from 3 to 27 January 2020.
