Hamilton Close To World Championship Title After US Grand Prix Win

British driver Lewis Hamilton is on the verge of winning his fourth world title after he finished ahead of nearest challenger Sebastian Vettel to take the United States Grand Prix earlier on Sunday.

Vettel’s Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen finished in third position to make it an impressive outing for the team.

The win took the Mercedes driver 66 points clear of Vettel and is almost certain to wrap the title up in Mexico next weekend in the first of the three races (75 points) left for the season.

Sebastian Vettel will need to make up at least 17 points to delay Hamilton’s world title till the next race in Brazil meaning that the German has to win the race with the hope that Hamilton finishes sixth or lower.

Mercedes have already won the constructors’ title on Sunday in Austin and Hamilton’s emergence as a world champion this year will make it a fourth consecutive championship double for Mercedes.
