Halep To Face Kerber In Semis After Beating Pliskova

Top seed Simona Halep continued her quest for a first Grand Slam title as she produced a stunning performance to see off Karolina Pliskova in straight sets to reach the last four at the ongoing Australian Open.

The 26-year old won nine games in a row from 3-0 down in the first set to win 6-3 6-2 thereby setting up a semi-final meeting with Angelique Kerber of Germany.

Kerber had earlier thrashed Madison Keys 6-1 6-2 in 51 minutes as her American opponent struggled badly throughout, winning just 18 of 46 points on her serve.

After her victory, Halep acknowledged her bad start. In her words, she said: “It wasn’t my best start but I knew I had to restart and move better, which I did in the end.”
