Halep Ends Wait For Grand Slam Title With French Open Final Win Over Stephens

World number one Simona Halep has ended his long wait for a first Grand Slam title after he defeated American 10th seed Sloane Stephens in three sets to win the French Open.

Halep wins her first major title at the fourth time of asking after losing three Grand Slam finals before Saturday’s match at Roland Garros.

The 26-year-old Romanian battled back from a set down to beat the reigning US Open champion 3-6 6-4 6-1.

Reacting to her title win, Halep said: “I did everything I could. It is amazing what is happening now.”

“I have been dreaming for this moment since I started playing tennis.” She concluded.
