Giroud Will Be Fit For World Cup Opener – France Coach Deschamps

French national team manager Didier Deschamps has confirmed that Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud will be fit for the team’s opening Group C clash with Australia at the World Cup in Russia.

Giroud sustained a serious head injury in Les Blues’ friendly game against the USA last week Saturday and was initially a doubt for Saturday’s game with Australia.

Julian Green’s first half strike for the Americans was cancelled out by Paris Saint Germain (PSG) forward Kylian Mbappe as the French played out an uninspiring 1-1 at home.

After the match, Deschamps revealed that former Arsenal star Giroud will feature against the Australians.

In his words via Telefoot. The 1998 World Cup winner said: “Olivier Giroud has a beautiful cut of six centimeters. But he will be able to face Australia.”
