Ghana Coach Appiah Approves AFCON Date Change

Ghana head coach Kwesi Appiah has welcomed the Africa Cup of Nations date and insists players will have peace of mind to play.

The Confederation of African Football have rescheduled their flagship tournament from January to June as part of the new resolution.

Before the decision to stage tournament in the middle of the year, many players had complain about leaving their European clubs for a almost a month whilst leagues are still ongoing.

This development saw seven players reject the call to represent Cameroon at the AFCON 2017 in Gabon.

The Black Stars trainer believes the new date will end all these problems

“It’s a good idea for the tournament to be played alongside the Euros, it will give the African players sound mind to play their heart out since there is no European club matches going on,” he said.
