Bayern Munich have qualified for the last eight of the German Cup after they saw off rivals Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the Der Klassiker played at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.
German internationals Jerome Boateng and Thomas Muller gave Bayern a 2-0 first half lead in the last 16 clash before an injury-depleted Dortmund side pulled one back through Ukrainian international Andriy Yarmolenko with thirteen minutes left to setup a grandstand finish.
The home side however held on for an important win thereby eliminating holders Borussia Dortmund from the competition.
In the pick of the other last 16 clashes on Wednesday, highly rated winger Leon Bailey scored in the 70th minute to give his Bayer Leverkusen side a 1-0 win at Borussia Moenchengladbach.
