RB Leipzig have moved into second spot on the German Bundesliga table after they defeated former occupants Schalke 04 3-1 at home in their week 18 clash.
French forward Jean-Kevin Augustin missed a fantastic opportunity to put Leipzig into the lead from the penalty spot but he didn’t take it however that didn’t stop the hosts from taking a first half lead through future Liverpool player Naby Keita.
Schalke 04 emerged from the interval reinvigorated and they deservedly levelled through ageless Brazilian defender Naldo.
The home side thereafter delivered a huge blow on the visitors with two goals in two minutes from substitute Timo Werner and Bruma thereby giving Leipzig a 3-1 victory which was enough to leapfrog them above their opponents as well as a first defeat since September.
