German Bundesliga: Cologne Remain Winless After Stuttgart Defeat

UEFA Europa League (UEL) campaigners FC Cologne took their winless start to the new Bundesliga season to eight games following their 2-1 defeat at newly promoted Vfb Stuttgart on Friday night.

Greek player Anastasios Donis gave the home team the lead seven minutes from halftime and not until the 77th minute did Cologne finally level matters through Dominique Heintz after much pressure. Their consistent frailties this season however came to the fore again on the stroke of fulltime as Congolese international Chadrac Akolo scored to snatch victory for Stuttgart.

FC Cologne stay rooted to the bottom of the table with the defeat and are six points adrift of safety with just 1 point from 8 games. The win takes the hosts further away from the relegation zone to 10th position with 10 points.
