Garba Lawal Warns Flying Eagles Ahead Of Mauritania Clash

Former Super Eagles midfielder Garba Lawal has sounded a note of warning to Nigeria’s male U20 team, Flying Eagles ahead of the second leg of their crucial 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) third round qualifier against Mauritania.

The tie is evenly poised ahead of the second leg scheduled for the Agege Stadium on Saturday after both teams played out a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

In his words via Punch, Garba Lawal said: “Mauritania also want to qualify for the Nations Cup and they are the underdogs coming into the tie. They have had a good result at home and would want to cause an upset here. If they score two goals and it ends in a draw, Nigeria will be out.”

“So the Flying Eagles have to be careful and not underrate them. The game is still open to both teams and anyone of them can take it. The boys should take their chances and wrap it up as soon as they can.” He concluded.

The winner of the tie between Nigeria and giantkillers Mauritania will advance to the 2019 AFCON U20 in Niger Republic.

Mauritania shocked Morocco and Guinea in the last two rounds, while Nigeria saw off Guinea Bissau in the previous round of qualifiers.
