Gabi Leaves Atletico Madrid For Qatari Club Al Sadd

Atletico Madrid captain Gabi has left the Spanish La Liga club for Qatari outfit Al Sadd.

Gabi, 34, has signed for Al Sadd on a three-year deal.

The former Spanish junior international has spent the majority of his career at Atletico Madrid having come through the club’s Academy.

The central midfielder has never been capped by Spain at senior level despite playing for both the U-20 and U-21 teams.

Gabi scored 10 goals in 414 appearances for Atletico Madrid.

He will link up with Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez at the club.

His Atletico Madrid teammates had nice things to say about their captain.

Juanfran said: “It’s been an honor to have been by your side.”

On his own part, Koke said: “You’ve been a big brother to me.”

Saul Niguez added: “Everyone should say thank you for representing Atlético de Madrid better than anyone else.”
