Fulham Sign Alfie Mawson From Swansea City

Newly promoted Premier League side Fulham have completed the transfer of English defender Alfie Mawson from Swansea City.

The 24-year-old joins the Cottagers from the Welsh side after putting pen to paper on a four-year contract in a deal that could be worth £20m.

He became a Swansea City player in 2016 following his move from English League One outfit Barnsley in a £5m deal.

Alfie Mawson went on to feature 65 times for the Welsh side in the Premier League, including all the 38 matches from last season but he was powerless to prevent Swansea City from suffering relegation.

In his first interview as a Cottager, Mawson said: “I’m excited by the project going on here and I can’t wait to get going.”

“The football being played last season was lovely on the eye but also effective and I can’t wait to be a part of it.

“I’m excited to be a part of this great club moving forward and to help achieve success in the Premier League.” He concluded.

The former England U21 international will wear the number 26 jersey ahead of the new season.
