French Ligue 1 Wrap: Monaco Thrash Lille To Pile More Misery On ‘El Loco’

French champions AS Monaco have moved level on points with league leaders and big spenders Paris Saint Germain (PSG) after they thrashed hosts Lille 4-0 to pile more misery on their manager Marcelo Bielsa ‘El Loco’.

Colombian striker Radamel Falcao netted a brace to take his tally to 11 goals in 7 league games this season after Steven Jovetic, who scored his first goal for the team, and Rachid Ghezzal had given the Monaco a 2-0 lead.

The win takes AS Monaco to 18 points and are now level on points with PSG with inferior goal difference while underfire Lille manager Marcelo Bielsa have it all to do with his side just above the relegation zone.

In the other French Ligue 1 match played on Friday evening, OGC Nice battled back from 2-0 down to play out a 2-2 draw with lowly Angers at home. Former Liverpool and Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli got one of the goals from the penalty spot.
