French Ligue 1 Review: Monaco Fail To Close Gap On Leaders PSG With Montpellier Draw

Defending champions AS Monaco suffered another setback in the bid to retain their French Ligue 1 title following a goalless draw with their hosts and former champions Montpellier.

The result means Leonardo Jardim’s side extend their unbeaten run against Montpellier to 31 games on a landmark 200th game in charge of Monaco.

A win would have moved the French champions to within six points of PSG but as it stands they are eight points adrift and PSG can extend that advantage when they travel to Nantes on Sunday night.

In the pick of the other games, Olympique Marseille have moved level on points with Olympique Lyon after they thrashed Stade Rennes 3-0 through goals from Valerie Germain (1st half), Morgan Sanson (1st half) and Florian Thauvin (2nd half) who had earlier missed a first half penalty.
