Olympique Lyon have moved to within eight points of French Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint Germain (PSG) after Dutch forward Memphis Depay scored a 25-yard stunner to hand his side a 2-1 win over their 10-man opponents at the Groupama Stadium.
Nabir Fekir had given the hosts an early lead in the 2nd minute before influential forward Kylian Mbappe was stretchered off for the visitors.
PSG, without in-form Neymar, however recovered from those setbacks to level proceedings on the strike of halftime courtesy of left back Larvyin Kurzawa.
The leaders were handed another significant blow in the second half after Brazilian star Daniel Alves was sent off paving the way for Depay’s stunner in added time.
French champions also remain in contention after their 3-1 win over 10-man Metz through goals from Jorge, Rachid Ghezzal and Rony Lopes
