The second phase of the anti-sex trafficking workshop “Goal! Strong Girls, Bright Future. Combatting Sex Trafficking” organised for teenaged women by women advocacy non-profit Fortem Inspire is set to begin today in Benin City.

The programme which has the support of the United States Embassy in Nigeria aims to educate young women about the perils of sex trafficking using sports as a medium.

The first leg held to great success in Lagos on Monday, 25 September at the Campos Mini Stadium with 50 teenaged students aged between 13-17 years old taking part.

Now the train of the women empowerment programme which includes former US Women National Team players Joanna Lohman and Stacci Wilson as well as legendary former Super Falcons goalie Precious Dede has rolled into Benin City for the second leg which commences today.

Benin City, according to the Pathfinders Justice Initiative, is often the starting point for victims of human trafficking in Nigeria.

Precious Dede has already shared the harrowing experience of sexual violence she experienced at the start of her career which says propels her to mentor young women and guide them away from the perils of sexual predators.

Fortem Inspire hopes to impact a total of 170 young women at the end of the programme on 27 September.
