Flying Eagles Captain Ikoumen Udoh Targets AFCON Glory

Captain of Nigeria’s U20 male team, Flying Eagles, Ikuomen Utin Udoh has revealed that the team’s target is to win next year’s U20 African Nations Cup (AFCON) in Niger Republic.

Enyimba left-back Udoh was hugely influential as he led the team to secure a spot at the AFCON tournament in Niger Republic next year following the 6-1 aggregate win over Mauritania in their final round of qualifiers.

Both sides had played out a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Mauritania before the Flying Eagles thrashed their opponents 5-0 at the Agege Stadium in the second leg thus booking a place in Niger Republic 2019.

In his reaction to the team’s success via footballlive.ng, Ikuomen Udoh said that the aim is to win the tournament in Niger Republic thereby booking a spot at next year’s FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland.

He said: “They are a good side because they disqualified Morocco and Equatorial Guinea but we thank God we were able to take them out of the qualifiers.

“In the game of football, there’s no small team. When preparation meets opportunity, success always comes in. We’ve prepared for it and we have qualified.

“Our aim is to go to Niger and win the Nations Cup. Of course qualification for the FIFA World Cup is our major target.” He concluded.
