Flashback Friday: Nigeria’s best jersey ever?

Over the years, like every other team in the world, the Nigerian senior men’s national team has had various jerseys at different times. The green and white signature colours of the country have remained, but patterns, designs and even fitting have changed. Some of these jerseys were received very well by Nigerian fans, some not so much. However, Nigerian fans always wear the colours with pride to support their beloved Super Eagles.

Looking back at the various jerseys, one seems to be loved more than the others. Adorned by arguably the best set of players Nigeria has ever produced – the Tunisia 1994 African Cup of nations winning team with the likes of Nigeria’s all time leading goalscorer, Rashidi Yekini, Peter Rufai, Stephen Keshi, Finidi George, Samson Siasia, Daniel Amokachi, Augustine Eguavoen, Sunday Oliseh, Benedict Iroha, Austin ‘JayJay’ Okocha and others. The jersey was also worn at FIFA World Cup in USA, 1994 which was Nigeria’s very first appearance at the tournament.

The jersey brings back a lot of pleasant memories to Nigerian football fans. Memories of a great football era. Many other jerseys have been similar in style but this jersey stands out. A lot of Nigerians, especially those who experienced those times would love to have a replica. Is this truly Nigeria’s best jersey ever?
