FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017: LOC Confirms Trophy Tour

The dates for the FIFA U-17 World Cup trophy tour have been made official by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC). The tour will cover almost 9,000 km over a period of 40 days between August 17 and September 26, 2017.

Chairman of the LOC, Praful Patel speaking to local reporters believe the experience is very important for the fans, while also confirming the tour will mark the last phase of event promotion…

“This will give the fans around the country an opportunity to get up close to the same trophy which the captain of the winning team will be lifting on October 28 in Kolkata. We hope that people can come in large numbers to the display locations in the host cities.” Praful Patel

The trophy tour roadmap:
It starts in the capital, New Delhi, city where the host will play their entire Group A matches. The trophy will be on display there from August 17 to 22.

Afterwards, the drive visits a major riverine port city called Guwahati, home to teams in Group E, from August 24-29. Kolkata, venue scheduled to host the final will also welcome the trophy from August 31 to September 5. Then it moves to Mumbai, home for Group B games, between September 6 and 10, while it is scheduled to be on view in the second largest city by population, Margao from September 14 to 19. Kochi will be the final resting place for the trophy tour from September 21 till 26.

The 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup will take place from the 6th–28 October 2017. This will be the first FIFA tournament hosted by India.
