Federer To Face Cilic In Australian Open Final Clash After Victory Over South Korean Opponent Chung

Defending champion Roger Federer is through to his 30th Grand Slam final after his South Korean opponent Hyeon Chung retired with a blister complaint in the second set of their semi-final match.

The Swiss world number two was leading 6-1 5-2 before Chung succumbed to the aforementioned injury.

After the match, Federer had some kind words for his opponent. He said: “Clearly I’m happy to be in the final but not like this. He’s had such a wonderful tournament.”

Speaking further about his trophies, Federer said: “Sometimes I look at them and I’m like ‘wow’. And then I’m like ‘who cares? It’s just tennis.'”

He will now face Marin Cilic of Croatia in Sunday’s final as he bid for a record 20th Gland Slam title.
