Federer Survives Scare Against Paire To Secure Quarterfinal Spot At Halle Open

Roger Federer is on course for a 10th Halle Open title after he survived a scare to book his quarterfinal spot at the tournament by beating Frenchman Benoit Paire.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion saw off the world number 48 6-3 3-6 7-6 (9-7) in their last 16 clash.

The 36-year-old will now face Matthew Ebden of Australia in the grass-court tournament.

Federer will retain the world number one ranking if he wins the tournament and he’s on course to do just that.

The Swiss tennis legend will start the defence of his Wimbledon title on July 2 in the bid to win a 21st Grand Slam title.
