Falcons Set Sights On Mali After Heartbreaking Ghana Loss

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have turned their attentions to their third place match with Mali at the ongoing WAFU tournament in Cote D’Ivoire.

Nigeria suffered heartbreaking loss to Ghana via penalties after both teams played out a 1-1 draw in their semi-final clash at the Treichville Sports Park in Abidjan.

Alice Ogebe had given Nigeria a 13th minute lead before Ampah Faustine equalised for the Black Queens six minutes later to force penalties.

Mary Ologbosere turned out to be the villain for Thomas Dennerby’s team as she missed her spot kick to hand Ghana a 5-4 win on penalties.

Nigeria will now face Mali on Saturday for the second time in the tournament having already beaten them 1-0 in the group stage while Ghana and hosts Cote D’Ivoire battle each other in the final match.
