Falconets Storm France On Thursday For World Cup

Nigeria’s national female U20 team, Falconets will fly into France on Thursday ahead of the start of this year’s FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup scheduled to start on Sunday, August 5.

The Christopher Danjuma-led team has been on a training tour of Austria for the better part of this month as part of preparations for the aforementioned tournament.

Nigeria qualified for France 2018 by beating Tanzania (9-0 on aggregate), Morocco (6-2 on aggregate) and South Africa (8-0 on aggregate) in January.

Falconets have reached the World Cup final twice (2010 and 2014) and the current set of players would be hoping they can surpass that feat when hostilities begin at the tournament expected to run from August 5 to 24.

Nigeria have been drawn in Group D alongside China PR, three-time champions Germany and Haiti.

Africa’s other representative, Ghana will face hosts France, New Zealand and the Netherlands in Group A.
