Euro 2020: Italy Beat England On Penalties To Win Trophy

Italy have been crowned Euro 2020 champions after triumphing over England 3-2 on penalties in the final at Wembley.

Leonardo Bonucci’s equaliser in the second half cancelled out Luke Shaw’s early opener for England with the game heading to extra time after neither side could muster a winner in normal time.

And in what was only the second European Championship final to be decided by spot-kicks it was Italy who came out on top as missed penalties from Marcus Rashford, Jason Sancho and Bukayo Saka proved decisive.

Italy win a first European championship since 1968 while England’s wait for an international trophy continues since they won the 1966 World Cup.
