Euro 2020: Adidas Unveil Official Tournament Ball “Uniforia”

The official match ball for UEFA’s 2020 European Championships, Euro 2020, has been unveiled.

Known as Uniforia, it was designed by German sportswear manufacturer, Adidas who say the ball embodies the inclusiveness and diversity of next summer’s competition.

Euro 2020 will see the 24-nation championship hosted across twelve different countries for the first time ever with the tournament kicking off in Rome and climaxing at the Wembley Stadium in London.

The uniqueness of the 2020 edition of the tournament Adidas said, informed the choice of its name which is a portmanteau word gotten from “unity” and “euphoria”.

“When designing an official match ball, we always look to reflect culture; what is the spirit of the street that we can proudly showcase in the stadium,” Adidas product designer, Anika Marie Kennaugh said.

“What we saw in our cities – all our key cities – is the need to come together and unite for change. As one of the major sporting events in the world, UEFA Euro 2020 is a great opportunity to proudly showcase the power of unity and to celebrate sport as a connector of people, ideas and creativity,” she added.

The host cities for Euro 2020 are Amsterdam, Baku, Bilbao, Bucharest, Budapest, Copenhagen, Dublin, Glasgow, London, Munich, Saint Petersburg and Rome. 

Belgium, Italy, Russia, Poland, Ukraine and Spain have already booked their places at next summer finals which kicks off on 12 June 2020.
