The top two favourites for the English Premier League (EPL) title namely Manchester City and Manchester United suffered different results during their Matchday 9 games.
Manchester City scored a controversial first half penalty through returning striker Sergio Aguero after Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope was adjudged to have brought down summer signing Bernado Silva. Nicolas Otamendi headed in a second goal and the previously mentioned Silva added a third to make it a comprehensive 3-0 home win over Sean Dyche’s team thus moving the Citizens five points clear at the top of the table.
Manchester United failed to close the gap on their rivals as they were stunned 2-1 by their hosts newly promoted side Huddersfield Town. Aaron Mooy and Laurent Depoitre gave the home side a 2-0 at halftime before Marcus Rashford halved the deficit in the second half. Jose Mourinho’s men piled on the pressure but they were unable to find the much needed equaliser.
