Enyimba’s CAF Champions League Exit ‘Disappointing’ – Oladapo (AUDIO)

Enyimba midfielder Austin Oladapo has described as ‘disappointing’ and ‘unfortunate’ his side’s elimination from the 2019/2020 CAF Champions League.

The 2-time African champions were knocked out of the competition on Sunday in Omdurman by Sudanese giants Al Hilal, who secured a 1-0 aggregate win after forcing Enyimba to a goalless draw in the first leg of their first round tie in Aba.

“It was very disappointing, we never expected it because we had trained very hard, we had worked very hard to see that we qualified for the group stage,” the former FC IfeanyiUbah man said. “But it is so unfortunate we could not make it to the group stage.”

“After the game on Sunday in Sudan, every player in the team was very, very disappointed. We were not happy with ourselves, even the coaches, the management, everybody was so furious about the game.

“But that is football. It has happened. We have to take it in good faith, and then move to the Confederation Cup and give it our best so that we would be able to make ourselves, our fans and Nigeria proud.”

Usman Abd’Allah’s side dropped down to the CAF Confederation Cup following their exit from the Champions League, and will know their opponents in the playoff round when the draws are conducted on Wednesday in Cairo, Egypt.
