El-Clasico Update: Barcelona Say NO To ‘Guard Of Honour’

Spanish La Liga leaders Barcelona have revealed that the tram won’t do a guard of honour for their rivals Real Madrid when both sides battle each other in the league season’s first el-clasico this weekend at the Santiago Bernebeu.

Real Madrid became the first team to win two successive FIFA Club World Cup over the weekend courtesy a 1-0 win over Gremio and many were expecting Barcelona to perform a guard of honour for the reigning European and Spanish champions but that has now been shut down by the Nou Camp outfit.

Speaking after Sunday night’s 4-0 win over Deportivo La Coruna in the league, Barcelona director, Guillermo Amor, said: “In this club, the guard of honour is usually made when we participate in the Champions League or La Liga – and this is not the case.”
