El Clasico: Real Madrid Down Barcelona At Nou Camp

Real Madrid took all three points in the first El Clasico of the 2020-21 La Liga season played at the Camp Nou, beating bitter rivals Barcelona 3-1.

It was back to winning ways for Zinedine Zidane’s side who have lost their last two games in all competitions while Ronald Koeman was given a rude welcome to Spain’s biggest rivalry.

It took just five minutes for Real to open scoring, a penetrating run from Karim Benzema splitting the Barcelona defence before the French striker slipped through for the rushing Fede Valverde to smash home.

Barcelona hit back three minutes later to level with Lionel Messi’s incisive through-ball to Jordi Alba allowing the left-back to lay the ball on a plate for 17-year-old Ansu Fati.

The second half saw both sides fashion out clean chances early on as the game went end-to-end, but it was from the penalty spot that Real regained the lead with captain Sergio Ramos beating Neto from eight yards.

Substitute Luka Modric then wrapped up the three points with a remarkable strike, turning Neto inside out before nonchalantly flicking the ball into the goal with the outside if his boot.
