Edo 2020: Delta State Emerge Champions

Delta State emerged champions of the 20th National Sports Festival which ended today, topping the medals table with 158 gold, 116 silver and 112 bronze to finish with a haul of 384 medals as they retained their crown from the 2018 edition.

Hosts Edo finished in second place with 129 gold, 104 silver and 108 bronze for a total of 341 medals while Bayelsa claimed third place with 56 gold, 55 silver and 58 bronze for a 169 total at the close of competition.

The closing ceremony of the two-week sports fiesta will take place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo expected to draw the curtains on the event.

A statement signed by the Project Manager, Media and Communications, Edo 2020, Musa Ebomhiana said the closing ceremony will hold from 6pm to 9pm, and the Torch of Unity, which was lit at the start of the Games, would be extinguished after vice-president Osinbajo has declared the Games closed.

Three artists, namely Franchize, Joeboy and Teni are scheduled to perform at the event which will also feature a farewell parade by all participating teams.
