Edo 2020: Adegoke, Nwokocha Dominate 100m Sprints

Enoch Adegoke shook off a first loss of the season suffered a fortnight ago to dominate the final of the men’s 100m at the 20th National Sports Festival taking place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.

Adegoke dominated the race from the start to reiterate his claim as Nigeria’s fastest man heading into the Tokyo Olympics, winning gold for Team Edo in a time of 10.28s.

Alaba Akintola set a new personal best time of 10.29s to win silver for Team Edo while Jerry Jakpa took bronze for Team Lagos with 10.33s.

In the women’s sprints, Grace Nwokocha overcame a poor start to take gold for Team Delta in 11.43s.

Nwokocha reeled in early leader Joy Udo-Gabriel in the final stretch, with Team Lagos’ Udo-Gabriel settling for silver while Team Bayelsa’s Tima Godbless finished in a time of 11.61 to take bronze.
