Nigeria international, Ebere Orji has expressed gratitude to her friends and fans who made her time in Hungary worth the while.
Last month, Orji completed a move from Hungarian women champions, Ferencváros to Umeå IK, a second division side in Sweden, and has scored three goals in two matches already – the latest being a brace in a 3-1 win over Ostersund at the Umea Energi Arena on the 2nd of September.
The striker’s first goal came on her debut in a 3-1 defeat at Boljan – just 24 hours after completing her move to the Elitettan on August 24.
“It has not been easy to move from one team to another. I really appreciate all my friends and fans at Ferencváros, ‘you guys are great and I am so proud to be a part of your history’,” Orji posted on her Facebook page.
“But I have to move on. Looking for new challenges. [I] have won everything with you guys, which I am so happy and proud of. I will always be your fan.
“Now ready to commit everything to Umeå IK of Sweden. Already three goals in two matches. It’s all about new challenges,” she concluded.
Before seeking a new challenge in Sweden, Orji claimed a league and cup double with Ferencváros in Hungary.
Her new club, Umeå IK got relegated from the Damallsvenskan last season and are hoping to make a quick return to the Swedish women top-flight.
They are currently in the seventh position on the Elitettan table with 27 points from 18 games and they will travel to face Uppsala at the Studenternas stadium on Sunday.
