The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been ranked 22nd favourites to win this summer’s FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The ranking which involves the 32 participating teams was carried out by respected European sports research group, CIES Football Observatory.

It was made known to the public via the research group’s weekly post number 225 released on Tuesday.

According to the CIES post, Spain are the favourites for the World Cup title that would be decided on Sunday, July 15 at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

For the African teams, Senegal are ranked as the most likely African country to win the tournament ahead of Morocco, Nigeria, Tunisia and Egypt.

Eagles’ Group D opponents Argentina and Croatia are ranked 7th and 8th respectively while Iceland are the least ranked team in the group in 23rd spot just behind Nigeria.
