Former Super Eagles winger Emmanuel Amuneke has revealed that the team needs a proper no.9 as preparation hots up for this summer’s FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Amuneke was speaking about the Super Eagles during a chat with CSN. In his words, the former Barcelona star said: “If you say they should play in that role as a striker of course they will, but I must be sincere with you that instinct that makes a real No.9 stand out they don’t have it.”
“Ighalo can deliver but he will need massive support from the creative players to get him to score but we need someone we can count on.” he added.
The Super Eagles will face old nemesis Argentina, Croatia and Iceland in Group D at the tournament in Russia later this year.
