Eagles Have Nothing To Lose – Kuffour

Former Ghanaian international defender John Osei Kuffour has revealed that the Super Eagles of Nigeria have nothing to lose in their quest to qualify from their group at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Nigeria face a big fight to qualify for the knockout stage from Group D having been drawn with Croatia, Argentina and Iceland.

In his chat with ESPN, Kuffour said: “Nigeria traditionally have thrived in major tournaments, but their biggest difficulty will be getting out of the group.”

“Croatia have some of the best individual players playing at a very good level in Europe, and they have an Argentina side who in addition to all those fantastic players have Lionel Messi. That for any team is a big challenge.

“It will be incredibly difficult for Nigeria to escape the group, but it works to their advantage that they have nothing to lose.” He concluded.

Nigeria start their Group D campaign against Croatia at the Kaliningrad Stadium in Kaliningrad on Saturday.
