Eagles Battle MFM FC For NPFL Invitational Trophy

The CHAN Eagles will on Sunday at the Sani Abacha Stadium, take on Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club (MFM FC), in the final of the 2017 Nigeria Professional Football League Invitational tournament in Kano.

Sunday Faleye’s wonder strike in the 55th minute was all the Eagles needed to edge 7-time league champions Enyimba Intl FC in their final group game, while Adekunle Adegboyega’s second of the tournament against Kano Pillars was enough to grant final passage for the Olukoya Boys.

Looking ahead to the final, coach of the CHAN Eagles, Salisu Yusuf eulogized the players for their performance despite a change in formation, but also emphasized the need for improvement.

“The team is used to the 4-2-3-1, on occasions it’s the 4-4-2, regardless the players have coordinated averagely and have done well but there’s room for improvement.” – Salisu

On his part, Coach of MFM FC, Fidelis Ilechukwu is hoping the momentum stays when they face arguably the best team in the tournament in Sunday’s final.

“We are playing against National team. CHAN Eagles have the best set of players, but in football everything is possible. We will give our best in the final.” – Ilechukwu

The final between the CHAN Eagles and MFM FC will take place on Sunday, December 17th at the 29, 000 Sani Abacha Stadium, in Kano. Kick off 4:00pm.
