D’Tigers Withdraw From AfroBasket 2025 Qualifiers Due To Lack Of Funds

Nigeria’s senior men’s national basketball team, D’Tigers, has withdrawn from the AfroBasket 2025 qualifiers due to lack of funds.

The team’s withdrawal was confirmed on D’Tigers’ X handle.

D’Tigers have been drawn in Group B with Uganda, Cape Verde and Libya in the first window of the qualifiers which will hold in Tunisia.

The Nigerian team is scheduled to begin the qualifiers on Saturday, 23 February against Libya.

Meanwhile, it is gathered that the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) is now making last-minute attempts to gather funds for D’Tigers to participate in the qualifiers.

The AfroBasket 2025 qualification will be played from February to November 2024, to determine the 16 nations who will qualify for the FIBA AfroBasket 2025.

Nigeria has won the AfroBasket only once which was in 2015.
