D’Tigers Head Coach Unveils 12-Man List For FIBA Qualifiers

D’Tigers head coach Alex Nwora has released a 12-man list to prosecute the second leg, first round of the 2019 FIBA Men’s World Cup qualifiers.

The qualifiers run from Friday, June 29 to Sunday, July 1 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Lagos.

The Nigerian side is in Group B alongside Uganda, Rwanda and Mali.

D’Tigers had earlier won the first leg, first round of qualifiers held in Bamako, Mali in February by beating all the other teams in Group B and are in pole position to qualify for the 12-team second round of the African qualifiers for the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

The 12-man D’Tigers list was conveyed in a statement released by the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) after the team’s last training session on Thursday.

The list includes team captain Ike Diogu (Sinchuan Blue Whales, China) and 11 newbies.

The newcomers are Omoerah Sado (Baerum Basket, Norway), Okosun Augustine (Sameji, Dominican Republic), Deji Akindele (Antwerp Giants, Belgium), Braxton Jai (Charlotte University, USA), Agada Apochi (Prat, Spain), Nwora Jordan (University of Louisville, USA) and Mehinti Tosin (Lavrio, Greece).

Others include Uzoh Benjamin (CB Caballero De Culican, Mexico), Zanna Talib (Ironi Nes-Zion’s, Italy), Emenago Obinna (Rouen Basket, France) and Mbamalu Bryant (CD Vildivia, Chile).

The newcomers are in line for their first competitive game for D’Tigers when they face Uganda on Friday.
