Nigeria’s male national basketball team, D’Tigers got their 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifying campaign to a good start following their victory over Uganda on Friday evening.
D’Tigers recovered from a bad first quarter to beat the Ugandans 102-86 in Bamako thus starting the road to China on a positive note.
Michael Efevberha weighed in with 20 points while star player Ike Diogu contributed 7 rebounds. Benjamin Uzor also added 9 assists.
In the other match in the Group B of the qualifiers, Rwanda defeated hosts Mali 74-70.
Nigeria will next face Rwanda on Saturday, February 24 before battling hosts Mali on Sunday, February 25.
