
Nigeria’s senior male basketball team, D’Tigers ended the second leg, first round of the 2019 FIBA World Cup African qualifiers with a one-sided victory over Mali at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Lagos.
D’Tigers thrashed Mali 93-53 in their final game in Group B to extend the record to 6-0 in the qualifiers.
19-year-old Jordan Nwora was the star of the show as he weighed in with a record 36 points, which is the most scored by a Nigerian at a major tournament.
He broke the record of team captain Ike Diogu (31 points on two occasions).
The Alex Nwora-led side had already sealed a spot in the 12-team second round on Friday night following the big-margin win over Uganda.
The second round of the FIBA African qualifiers starts in September.
