D’Tigers Beat Hosts Mali To Top FIBA World Cup Qualifying Group

Nigeria’s national basketball team, D’Tigers have qualified for the next round of the 2019 FIBA World Cup qualifiers after they defeated hosts Mali to finish at the summit of Group B.

D’Tigers had earlier beaten Uganda 102-86 and Rwanda 108-53 on Friday and Saturday respectively before Sunday’s victory over Mali.

Team captain Ike Diogu had 22 points, 8 rebounds and one assist while Michael Efevberha weighed in with 11 points, 5 rebounds and eight assists.

Obi Emegano and Bryant Mbamalu also contributed 15 points and 14 points respectively.

Five teams will represent Africa at the 2019 World Cup in China.

According to the international Basketball body, the 12 teams in the next round will play home and away games to determine the five African teams.
